Camp Director Caitlin Peterson

Caitlin Peterson (formerly Pankratz) will enter her seventh season as a full-time assistant coach in 2019, and her 15th season overall as a member of the UCM volleyball program. Peterson returned to UCM in the winter of 2013 as a full-time assistant coach after spending the 2012 season as an assistant coach at Spring Hill College, in Mobile, Ala., where she worked under former Jennies Hall of Fame head coach Peggy Martin.  Peterson was named the Associate Head Coach before the start of the 2015 season.

Prior to her post at Spring Hill, Peterson got her coaching career started as the Jennies’ graduate assistant coach during the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Since returning to Warrensburg, Peterson has helped coach the Jennies setters to All-MIAA selections all six years, including All-MIAA First Team and All-American Julia Bates in 2013. In total, the Jennies have had 13 All-Americans since Peterson joined the coaching staff, and 23 with her as either a graduate assistant or full time coach.

In 2009, Peterson finished a five-year career for the Jennies ranked No. 2 all-time in assists with 5,502, the seventh highest career mark in MIAA history at that time. She was named an AVCA All-American and First-Team All-MIAA that year after guiding the Jens to the NCAA South Central Regional as the No. 1 seed and host of the tournament.

Peterson is still second all-time at UCM in assists and is eighth in MIAA history.

During her career at UCM, Peterson led her teams to a 149-39 overall record playing for Hall of Fame Head Coach Peggy Martin from 2005-08 and her successor, current head coach, Flip Piontek in 2009. She was the starting setter for four years and a team captain for two, helping the team win 81 percent of its matches. The volleyball program’s 2009 conference championship was the first since since 2000, but the Jennies earned a bid to every NCAA postseason tournament during her career. Peterson recorded double-figure assists in more than 35 games in each of her four seasons and collected 47 career double-doubles. She also dished out at least 30 assists in 129 matches. Peterson will be inducted into the UCM Athletics Hall of Fame in February, 2019.

As a student, Peterson was just as impressive. She made the Dean’s list every semester at UCM and was an MIAA Presidential Honor Roll member numerous times with a 4.0 GPA. She made the MIAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll and the CoSIDA Academic All-District team three times. She was a two-time Academic All-MIAA honoree. She also received the prestigious NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship, was named Outstanding Graduate for Accounting and was a finalist for the UCM Charno Award in 2009-10.

Peterson was an active member of SAAC, as the past-president. Peterson also managed to compete in a second sport during her senior season, as a member of the Jennies softball team.

The Buhler, Kansas native graduated with a degree in accounting from the University of Central Missouri, holding a 3.88 GPA. She earned her master’s degree from UCM in exercise science in the spring of 2012.

Peterson currently lives in Warrensburg, and married Adam Peterson in June, 2017. They are expecting their first child this summer.
